“The film is a true gem, combining a great story with fantastic acting to create an
unforgettable experience...
A must-watch for anyone who loves inspired and meaningful cinema.”
Milton had a dream. Now he has a cafe. In a washed-up, rundown seaside town surrounded by his
father’s collection of silent movie memorabilia (and a mountain of debt).
Until Jenna arrives… With a second-hand camera and a crazy idea
And turns the cafe… the town… and Milton’s life completely upside down…
However Erica Forster, the town’s rather ruthless property developer, has her eyes on the cafe -
and could put an end of Milton’s film-making dreams…
‘The Silver Screen Dreams Cafe’ is about the magic of filmmaking and the fact that
‘it’s never too late to change your story’…

behind The scenes
Strangely enough... this isn’t just a movie!
It’s a project about transforming a community and lives through
the making of a film*…
(*Which happens to be about transforming a community and lives through the making of a film!). It’s life imitating art. Or art imitating life!

Ordinarily the process of making a film involves bringing together a group of people in order to create a finished product. We’ve turned that process on its head: Creating a finished product as an excuse to bring together a group of people. As the old cliche goes, it’s all about the journey…
Since September 2022 we’ve been working together with a group of residents from Wythenshawe, Manchester, from a very broad range of ages, backgrounds and life experiences who have had little investment in them and training them in all aspects of filmmaking, giving them opportunities to be cast and crew on the feature film.
The goal of all this has been about learning new skills, raising self-esteem, building teamwork, having lots of fun - and creating strong community where everyone is accepted for who they are.
Whilst this has been the primary goal, there has also been another equal component to this project - making a great movie... a movie that people can be proud of... that they can look at on the screen and think “Wow! I did that!”... a movie that will inspire and encourage all those who watch it.
As the idea is growing and growing we have founded a CIC ‘Silver Screen Community Film Studios’ to make more features and short films with the local community; telling stories of life, hope and fun through the medium of film- whilst at the same time building local people up in confidence, skills and self-esteem.
